Spencer, IA: (Nov. 21, 2013) – A “Defend the Renewable Fuels Standard” event will take place Friday near Nevada, Iowa in an effort to urge Iowans to take action on a proposal to lower the amount of ethanol required to be blended into the nation’s gasoline supply.
A group called the Iowa RFS Coalition will host the event at Lincolnway Energy near Nevada at 1:00 p.m.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, in announcing the event said, “The EPA has turned its back on rural America….”
The EPA, late last week, proposed lowering the number of gallons of ethanol to be blended into gasoline, citing the declining gasoline usage by motorists. The EPA will accept comments on its proposal for the next sixty days. Branstad, in his announcement, encouraged Iowans to officially comment to the EPA.
