Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer Progress & Development Committee discussed a proposed residential housing development on Monday.
City Manager Bob Fagen tells KICD News that the city was excited to have Bruce Nystrom show interest in starting up a new 50-51 lot subdivision across from the Spencer Country Club.
The issue at hand is regionalizing the storm water with the new development.
Preliminary figures to upsize the underground pipes and run an upgraded stormwater system is $255,000.
Nystrom says his goal is to get the stormwater situation figured out and sewer and water going by this Fall.
Nystrom also noted that one item on his wishlist is to fid out if it is feasible to construct an underground tunnel on 18th to get golf carts and bikes from the proposed addition to the Country Club area safely.
Councilmembers seemed to show support for moving ahead with the stormwater upgrade and action is expected on the next regular council meeting agenda.
