Hartley, IA (KICD)–A new pharmacy is set to open soon in Hartley.
Jay Norberg tells KICD News that he has 25 years of experience being a pharmacist and 3 years owning his own store in Pipestone, Minnesota.
Norberg says a friend from church planted the idea of opening up a pharmacy in Hartley in late June and the idea grew from that point.
Norberg is filling a void in the community as Hartley’s previous pharmacy closed earlier this year.
Norberg noted that the community support he received from many individuals and the Hartley Economic Development Corporation helped him move ahead with this project.
The current plan is for the pharmacy to eventually be located in an approximate 3,000 square foot addition to Fiesta Foods. This will be the permanent location for the pharmacy and an expansion of the grocery store. The drug store addition will have a drive-up for prescription pickup. The parking lot will be expanded to the lot east of the grocery store.
The new pharmacy is slated to open November 1st.
