Des Moines, IA (KICD)–MidAmerican Energy has identified five sites in the state to put up to 448 new wind turbines.
One of the five identified sites is in O’ Brien County. Company Spokesperson Abby Bottenfield tells KICD News that they do not have an exact location fully secured at this time.
Bottenfield says the project will create 460 temporary construction jobs and 50 permanent jobs once construction is complete. The other planned locations are in Grundy, Madison, Marshall, and Webster counties.
Bottenfield says that the wind turbines will be built at no net cost for customers and will help to reduce and stabilize rates in the long term.
Some of the construction is slated to start as early as next month with work at all five sites underway this Fall.
