Spencer, IA (KICD) — A long time Spencer business will be closing its doors at the end of June.
The announcement was made Monday that Motor Inn of Spencer will cease its operations at the end of the month. The Spencer location was just one of the Motor Inn Auto Group’s many locations, which includes GM, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota dealerships in Estherville, Spirit Lake, LeMars, Algona, Webster City, Knoxville, Orange City and Carroll.
Spencer Motor Inn Manager, Dan Ray, said the original lease was when they were a Oldsmobile, Pontiac, GMC and Cadillac dealer. When GM discontinued or cancelled those franchises, they wanted a new lease that was reflective of what a used car lot would pay. Those attempts failed.
Ray expressed his thanks to their customers for a great run and look forward to continuing to serve them in one of their other eight locations. The Spencer dealership will liquidate their entire stock of used cars and trucks and will sell remaining stock parts at 50 percent off.
Once the business is gone from the facility. The property will be put up for sale.
