Milford, IA (KICD)–A Milford teen was injured following a Monday morning accident south of Milford.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Sandy Leu was heading south on Highway 71 shortly after 10:15 in a 2008 Toyota. She lost control and rolled the van. Other occupants of the van fled the scene and were located later.Leu was treated for non-incapacitating injuries and released on the scene.

Agencies assisting include the Iowa State Patrol, Milford, Okoboji, and Arnolds Park Police, Milford Fire and Rescue, and the Arnolds Park / Okoboji Fire Department.

Estherville, IA (KICD) — An Estherville man is arrested on multiple charges.

On Sunday, the Estherville Police Department took a complaint from a female claiming to be sexually assaulted. Further investigation, revealed illegal drug activity, and alcohol being served to underage persons at the residence where the sexual assault had taken place.

A search warrant was obtained and executed Monday, resulting in drug paraphernalia being found. Officers charged 35-year old Shane Trompeter with 1 count of 3rd degree sexual abuse, a class C felony, 2 counts of providing alcohol to a person under 21, and 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trompeter was booked into the Emmet County Jail.

Sibley, IA (KICD)–A Sanborn man was arrested following a Tuesday OWI accident.

25-year-old Marc Gibbons was arrested by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office after a witness observed him strike a bridge with his vehicle and then flee. Gibbons was found in a private drive trying to repair the vehicle.

Charges on file include OWI 2nd offense, driving while suspended, and open container. Gibbons was booked into Osceola County jail on a $2,600 cash bond.

Rock Rapids, IA (KICD)–A sex abuse charge has been levied against a Rock Rapids man,

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of sexual abuse which occurred in Rock Rapids last Thursday. 49-year-old David Matthias Jr. was arrested in connection on Tuesday on a class C felony count of 3rd degree sexual abuse,

Matthias was booked into the Lyon County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– Storm Lake Police were joined by the department’s Narcotics Team and K-9 Tuesday when they executed a search warrant at 606 Otsego Street in connection with the investigation of illegal drug sales.

During the search authorities located and seized several ounces of marijuana some of which was packaged for streets sales, a small quantity of methamphetamine, cash alleged to be proceeds from drug illegal drug sales, packaging materials, weighing equipment, and other drug paraphernalia. Police further located and seized a SKS assault rifle, multiple ammunition magazines for the rifle and ammunition.

24-year-old Khao Vongdeuane of Storm Lake was subsequently charged with class D felony counts of Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Deliver and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax; Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on an $11,300 cash bond.

A report was filed with the Iowa Department of Human Services in connection with two small children residing in the residence.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was jailed for burglary Tuesday night.

Storm Lake Police were told by the reporting party that 18-year-old David Almendarez entered her home without permission while she was home and removed some items from a bedroom. As Almendarez was leaving the female victim attempted to stop him but he ran from the residence.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person and apprehended Almendarez without incident running with no shoes on and covered in mud. Police located the alleged stolen items under a deck at a nearby residence.

Almendarez was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. He was charged with a class C felony count of burglary.

During the investigation police determined that the items taken in the burglary were allegedly stolen retail merchandise being stored in the residence by a third party.

The investigation is continuing in relation to the recovered stolen property and additional arrests and charged are anticipated.

Bigelow, MN (KICD) — A Tuesday night fire results in the loss of 27 calves and a barn.

Around 8:45, the Bigelow Fire Department responded to a fire on a farm three miles east of Bigelow, near Lake Bella. Upon arrival of firefighters, the barn was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters fought the fire in defensive mode, due to the extensive damage already occurred, protecting the other buildings on the farm.

No one was on the farm when the fire occurred, and the call was made by a neighbor. While the official cause of the fire has not been determined, it’s believed to be electrical in nature.

Assisting at the scene and providing water were fire departments from Round Lake, Sibley and Ocheyedan.

Sheldon, IA (KICD)–A Sheldon man recently pled guilty to a class C felony count of Lascivious Acts with a Child in O’Brien County District Court.

33-year-old Charles Eden received a 10-year suspended prison term and was placed on probation for two years. According to O’Brien County Attorney Micah Schreurs Eden must also comply with all sex offender registry requirements, and he
also received a mandatory, special sentence that commits him into the custody of the director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for the restof his life.The Sheldon Police Department, with the assistance of the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, investigated Eden’s crime.

Cherokee, IA (KICD) — A Marcus man is arrested on a felony charge.

Cherokee Police arrested 26-year old Kyle Hodges, on 1st degree Burglary, a class B felony. The arrest stems from a break-in at a residence, in Cherokee. It ‘s alleged Hodges also assaulted a male adult after the break-in.

He was booked into the Cherokee County Jail.

Pocahontas, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man was arrested in connection with multiple vehicle thefts.

Pocahontas County Sheriffs Office said 49-year old James Thompson was arrested by Pocahontas County deputies May 31st, when he was discovered driving a 2002 Chevy Trail Blazer that was stolen from an Ida Grove car dealership.

Further investigation determined Thompson had also stolen a Ford Water truck from the Buena Vista County Raceway, drove it to a farm near Palmer, where he took a 2013 Kawasaki 4-wheeler. He then drove the unit to Varina, taking a 2001 Pontiac from Bass Repair Shop.

The Pontiac was then driven to Ida Grove, where Thompson then test drove the Blazer from Mark Hansen Motors he was caught in, back into Pocahontas County.

As a result, Thomson was charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, a class D felony, 4 counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owners Consent, 3 counts of Trespassing, and Driving With a Suspended License.

Thompson has since been released from Pocahontas County Jail, and is currently jailed in Ida County.
