Ashton, IA (KICD)–A Sanborn man was jailed following a Friday traffic stop.

54-year-old Scot Scheerhoorn was pulled over east of Ashton by an Osceola County Deputy. He was charged with OWI 2nd offense, possession of a controlled substance 2nd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.  Scheerhoorn was booked into the Osceola County Jail and held on a $3,300 bond.

Rock Rapids, IA (KICD)–Two men were injured in an early morning motorcycle accident at the intersection of Highway 9 and Greene Street in Rock Rapids.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Nickolas Koel of Rock Rapids was driving a 2000 Honda motorcycle westbound on Highway 9, when he collided with 21-year-old Aaron Stettnichs, who was also driving a 2000 Honda motorcycle. Stettnichs was attempting to turn north onto Greene Street when Koel’s motorcycle struck the rear of Stettnichs’ motorcycle.

Both drivers received non-incapacitating injuries. Koel was transported to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids by Lyon County Ambulance.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was jailed Monday morning on assault charges.

Storm Lake Police were called to an apartment complex in the midnight hour where they met with a female victim who told police that while walking through the apartment complex she was approached by 21-year-old Mark Cham. It is alleged that Cham made inappropriate advances towards her and when she tried to walk away he grabbed her arms and would not release her. She added that while Cham was holding her he touched her in a sexual manner and continually asked her to perform sex acts with him. The victim told police she was held for approximately 45 minutes against her will.

Cham was found nearby and arrest for Assault With Intent to Commit Sexual Assault, Public Intoxication 3rd Offense, and False Imprisonment. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

No injuries were reported to police.

Hull. IA (KICD)–Additional charges have been filed in connection to a Hull assault that occurred last Saturday evening.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated an assault that occurred at a residence on Chestnut Drive in Hull. As a result of the altercation, a man sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Hull Ambulance. That person was later flown to Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls for further treatment of his injuries.

32-year-old Joel Gonzalez was initially arrested for willful injury and strangulation. 46-year-old Ruben Lupercio-Lopez of Hull was arrested Wednesday for aggravated assault; he is accused of displaying a dangerous weapon. On Friday 31-year-old Holly Esquivel was charged with 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief. She is accused of damaging a vehicle.
