Milford, IA (KICD)–A Thursday morning accident landed a Spirit Lake woman in the hospital.

Milford Police say Kelsey Hagedorn was heading south on Highway 71 just after 11:15 in a 1997 Jeep. She slowed for a 2014 Dodge Ram pick-up driven by Marc Bertness of Sioux Rapidsthat was making a left turn, and Hagedorn was struck in the rear.

Hagedorn was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare for treatment of non life-threatening injuries by ambulance.

Arnolds Park Police, Terril Ambulance, and Milford Fire and Rescue assisted.

Hull, IA (KICD)–A Hull man was jailed after trying to fight with a Sioux County Deputy.

A domestic disturbance report from a Hull home came in at 5:15 Wednesday morning. While the deputy was conducting his investigation 34-year-old Florencio Ortigoza-Victoriano tried to flee from the residence. When the deputy attempted to apprehend Ortigoza-Victoriano he resisted and struggled with the officer. Ortigoza-Victoriano tried to remove the deputy’s firearm from its holster but was unable to do so. Several responding officers arrived on scene and assisted the deputy in apprehending Ortigoza-Victoriano.

The deputy sustained minor injuries in the incident; he sought medical attention at the Orange City Hospital where he was treated and released.

Ortigoza-Victoriano was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Hull Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. He was released a short time later and arrested for domestic assault, interference with official acts, assault on a peace officer and attempting to disarm a peace officer.

Sioux Center and Rock Valley Police assisted.

The case remains under investigation.

Milford, IA (KICD)–Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter would like to remind homeowners to check and clean there chimneys on wood burning stoves and fireplaces.

This reminder comes after his department was called to a home on Friday at 2656 220th Street. Upon arrival the basement was full of smoke, with smoke coming out of the eaves on the north side of the home. The chimney for a wood burning stove in the basement was the apparent cause. The fire was extinguished and the roof was checked for extension.

Terril Ambulance, Dickinson County Deputies, Milford Police, and Dickinson County Emergency Management assisted on scene.

The Milford Fire Department was on scene for an hour and a half.

Hull, IA (KICD)–A Hospers woman was taken to the hospital following a Wednesday evening accident two miles west of Hull.

20-year-old Austen Klosterbuer of Rock Rapids was driving a 2001 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a grain trailer northbound on Highway 75 just before 8:00 p.m. 49-year-old Carla Knibbe was heading west on 320th Street in a 1996 Ford Explorer. Knibbe reported that she stopped for the stop sign at Highway 75 and then began turning left onto Highway 75 where she was struck by the Freightliner. Following the crash, the Freightliner and trailer entered the west ditch and struck a building and farm equipment.

Knibbe was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Hull Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Knibbe was cited for failure to obey stop sign.
