Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A teenage girl was airlifted following a Sunday ATV accident.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office was called out to a farm field at 6153 Highway 71 in Storm Lake around 5:00 p.m. County Paramedics responded as well.
It was determined that a 14-year-old girl from Storm Lake was alone on a 4-wheeler when she lost control. The ATV flipped two times onto the girl before landing on its wheels. The girl was not wearing a helmet.
The teen was later airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City for treatment of her serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A pair of stabbings took place in Storm Lake late Saturday evening.
Police met with a 21-year-old woman at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Emergency Room who reported that she had been at a post Baptism celebration at the Sunrise Pointe Golf Course Club House. A group of uninvited people arrived at the reception and when they were asked to leave a large fight broke out at which time she was stabbed in the arm. 34-year-olds Andreas Guillen and Maria Martinez were both identified as suspects after interviewing witnesses.
Police then received additional information that a second person was stabbed during the altercation. A 24-year-old man was found at a residence suffering from two stab wounds to the face and a possible broken jaw. Police transported the male victim to the medical center for treatment as several people at the residence were detained for questioning in the double stabbing.
Guillen and Martinez were located and placed under arrest early Sunday morning. While officers were on location three individuals from Alta, 29-year-olds Linda Diaz and Juan Vazquez-Alcaraz and 34-year-old Melinda Morales, resisted commands from Police. It was determined that both Diaz and Vazquez-Alcaraz were allegedly involved in the large fight at the Golf Course Club House. Clothing with blood stains was located at a home and seized.
Guillen was charged with two class C felony counts of Willful Injury, two class D felony counts of Assault Causing Bodily Injury, and Rioting. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $32,000 cash bond.
Diaz and Vasquez-Alcaraz were both charged with Rioting and Interference With Official Acts. They were both booked into the county jail on a $2,300 cash bond each.
Morales was charged with Interference With Official Acts (simple misdemeanor) and booked into the county jail on a $300 cash bond.
Both victims were treated at the medical center and later released.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
Martinez was charged with Rioting and booked into the county jail on a $2,000 cash bond
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man is being held without bond following a Friday evening domestic assault.
Storm Lake Police were called to the Casey’s West Store at 8:45 p.m. where they met with woman and her 18-month-old child. Police were told by the victim and witnesses that her boyfriend, 18-year-old Aihlee Jamad Boutte, physically assaulted her by forcing her and her child into the bathroom of the apartment at which time he assaulted her and choked her while the child was trapped in the bathroom with the victim.
The suspect’s brother, 22-year-old Faheem Boutte of Fort Dodge, and two other men broke into the bathroom and rescued the woman and her child. At this point, Boutte allegedly attempted to assault one of the rescuing witnesses but failed. Boutte allegedly took the victim’s cell phone and prevented her from calling for help after taking her to Casey’s. He then left the store.
After taking both men into custody Aihlee Boutte was charged with a class D felony count of Domestic Assault With Strangulation Causing Bodily Harm, Child Endangerment, False Imprisonment, and Assault. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for 5th degree theft. Boutte was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
Faheem Boutte was charged with Obstruction of Emergency Communication. In addition Faheem was found to be wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with Contempt of Court. He was booked into the county jail on a $1,300 cash bond.
The female victim was treated by Buena Vista County Paramedics at the police station for injuries sustained in the assault. No injuries were reported to the child.
A report has been forwarded to the Iowa Department of Human Services.
Spencer, IA (KICD)–Drug and alcohol charges were filed against a Sutherland man following a traffic stop by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office last week.
An open container was seen on the front passenger floor and it was found the driver, 51-year-old Troy Campbell, had consumed alcoholic beverages. A search of the car turned up methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and open containers.
Campbell was charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, OWI, and speeding. Campbell was held in Clay County jail to appear before a judge.
