Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–Drug charges were filed against two following an early Friday morning traffic stop by Spirit Lake Police.
During the stop K-9 Cairo alerted Police to the discovery of marijuana.
19-year-old Taran Bosh and a 16-year-old, both from Spirit Lake, were charged with possession of marijuana. Bosch was also cited for failure to use head lamps when required.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man that is an assault victim is jailed.
This (Thursday) morning, Storm Lake Police were dispatched to the Emergency Room at the buena Vista Regional Medical Center in reference to a apparent victim of an assault, that had arrived there.
Upon arrival, police met with the victim, 23-year old Joel Rodriguez. Police found Rodriguez to be suffering from injuries to his head as a result of a physical assault.
Rodriguez was uncooperative with police, during the investigation. It was determined that Rodriguez was assaulted outside of a residence by unknown persons at approximately 10:30 Wednesday night.
Police located several potential witnesses, but most declined to cooperate. During the investigation police located evidence with blood on it at the scene. In addition a vehicle related to the assault was located with blood on it by Buena Vista County Deputies in Alta, early (this)Thursday morning. The vehicle was then impounded.
At approximately 5:40am, (this) Thursday morning, police were dispatched back to the BVRMC Emergency Room on a report that Rodriguez was becoming disruptive, combative and abusive towards ER staff.
Storm Lake Police arrested Rodriguez and charged him with Disorderly Conduct. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man is jailed on numerous charges.
On Monday morning, a Storm Lake Police Officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the apartment complex construction sight in the 1500 block of North Seneca Street.
Police made contact with the vehicle driver, 21-year old Victor Tomas. Police allege that Tomas was intoxicated and arrested him. It’s further alleged that Tomas was in possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the investigation, police located and seized documents that reflected that Tomas was allegedly working under another name for PSSI of Storm Lake.
On Monday morning police charged Tomas with OWI and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond on a hold by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Storm Lake Police conducted additional investigation into Tomas allegedly working under an assumed identity in Storm Lake, and today (Thursday), further charged Tomas with Identity Theft and Forgery, both class D felonies. He remains held in the county jail.
Jackson, MN (KICD) — Two men are facing drug charges after a weekend traffic stop
The Jackson County Sheriffs Department stopped a vehicle around 1:45 Sunday morning, that was speeding on Highway 71 in the city of Jackson. The driver, 23-year old Anthony Richardson of Worthington was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.
A search was executed producing approximately a half gram of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, found in Richardson’s pocket. As a result, he was additionally charged with a felony 5th Degree Controlled Substance, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Richardson was taken to the Jackson County Jail and remains under a $12,000 bond.
A passenger, 45-year old Brent Stern of Round Lake. Stern refused to submit to testing upon a request from a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The Sheriff’s Office canine was deployed and alerted near the passenger seat where Stern was seated. Deputies located approximately a half-gram of suspected methamphetamine.
Stern was arrested and formally charged with a felony 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Stern remains in custody at the Jackson County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
LESTER, Iowa (AP) – A 20-year-old man was injured in a crash that spilled liquid manure into a ditch and field in northwest Iowa.
The crash was reported near the town of Lester on Thursday.
The Lyon County sheriff’s office says a man from Pipestone, Minn., was driving a semitrailer hauling the manure when the rig’s tires began to sink into the soft gravel on the road. The rig rolled into the ditch, spilling manure, and the driver was thrown from the truck.
The unidentified driver was taken to a nearby hospital.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was notified about the spill.
