Spencer, IA (KICD)–Four from Minnesota were taken into custody on Saturday following a shoplifting spree involving stores in both Spencer and Spirit Lake.
Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson says the foursome have been going from town to town hitting big box stores such as Wal-Mart. Hundreds of dollars worth of baby formula and tobacco products were stolen and then sold back in the twin cities.
After investigation 43-year-old Jozette Milton, 24-year-old Curtis Watson, and a 17-year-old male all from St. Paul and 23-year-old Deanna Pugh of Wabasha were charged with a class D felony count of 2nd degree theft. Watson and the teen were also charged with possession of marijuana. The adults were held in Clay County jail and the Juvenile was taken to the YES Center in Cherokee.
Additional charges are expected to be filed by other agencies . The investigation continues.
Ashton, IA (KICD)–A Sioux City man was life flighted after a Saturday motorcycle versus pickup collision.
Osceola County Deputies were called out around 4:00 p.m. to the accident south of Ashton on Highway 60. It was found that 28-year-old Zachary Lessard was heading north on a 2007 Harley Davidson when he rear ended a 1992 Dodge Pickup driven by 72-year-old Donald Keninger of Ashton. Lessard did not see the truck slowing down for a tractor.
Lessard was taken to Osceola Community Hospital and later life flighted to Sioux Falls.
Others assisting on scene inlcude Ashton Fire and Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
Ruthven, IA (KICD) — Authorities are investigating an incident involving fake money.
The Clay County Sheriffs Office said sometime during the afternoon hours of October 13th, someone used fake $20 bills to pay for the purchase of pumpkins, at Rohan’s Firewood and Pumpkin Stand, on Highway 18, west of Ruthven.
The Sheriffs office has taken the fake money into evidence, and the case remains under investigation.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man is arrested after an assault incident.
On Saturday morning, Storm Lake police took a report of a man bleeding from the face, from an assault. Upon arrival, police were told that the person committing the assault was 32-year old Ajuwill Charn.
The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and treated for injuries. Shortly thereafter, police located Charn, and upon discussion with him, learned he had sturck the victim in the face with a closed fist, and as a result, police arrested Charn without incident, and took him to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was charged with Assault,Causing Bodily Injury. He was booked and held on a $1000 bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was arrested Saturday morning in connection to a domestic scuffle .
Police could hear a female yelling for help from inside the apartment. When they entered the found that 47-year-old Corry Long had wrestled the victim to the ground and pulled her hair following a verbal argument.
As officers attempted to remove Long from the apartment he began to thrash and fight officers. Long was subdued and taken to BVRMC for minor scratches and bruising sustained in the incident.
Long was cleared for incarceration and booked into Buena Vista County Jail for Domestic abuse 2nd offense and interference with official acts. He was held without bond.
Minor injuries were sustained by the victim, who refused medical treatment. No officers were injured.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Nebraska man had to be subdued by Storm Lake Police early Sunday morning.
An Officer attempted to intervene in an argument between two men at Malarky’s when 23-year-old Juan Cesena-Ahumada of South Sioux City began pushing another male. Cesena was taken to the ground by officers but continued to fight. Cesena was subdued with a chemical reagent and placed into handcuffs.
Cesena was taken to BVRMC where he was treated for exposure to the chemical reagent and cleared for incarceration. Cesena was booked into Buena Vista County Jail for Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts. He was held on a $900 bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–An Alta woman was arrested early Saturday morning for assaulting a man in a wheel chair outside of Malarky’s Night Club.
It is alleged that that the person in the wheel chair had unintentionally run over Apolito’s foot in the bar and had not apologized to her, prompting her to grab his face and push him back in his chair.
Apolito was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. She was held on a $600 bond.
Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–Felony drug charges were filed earlier this month.
Newly released info from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office notes that a search warrant was executed at Gull Point State Park campground on October 6th.
Following the search Jonathan Jacobsen was arrested on a class C felony count of possession of meth with the intent to sell, a class D felony charge of possession of meth precursors, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jacobsen remains in Dickinson County jail on a $15,000 bond.
Chatsworth, IA (KICD)–A Chatsworth man was injured after being pinned between two vehicles.
The Sioux County Sheriff says 45-year-old Sharon Puhl of Chatsworth was driving a 1995 Buick Le Sabre eastbound on her driveway when she struck 45-year-old Devin Bravo, who lives at the home. Bravo reported that he was briefly pinned between the Buick and another vehicle that was parked on the driveway.
Bravo sustained injuries and sought medical treatment on his own on Thursday. He was later transported to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City for further treatment of his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation
