Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Spencer man was hospitalized following a Monday afternoon ATV accident.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Drake Swanson was heading north in the east ditch in the 3200 mile of 230th Avenue at 12:46 p.m. Swanson hit a driveway and lost control of the ATV, causing it to roll and come to rest on top of him. Family members arrived a short time later and removed the ATV.

Swanson was taken to Spencer Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was cited for failure to maintain control and operation of an ATV on a highway.

Spencer Hospital Paramedics and Fostoria Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.

Royal, IA (KICD)–Drug and assault charges were filed against a Royal man early Saturday morning.

Clay County Deputies were called to a fight between 27-year-old Jonathan Boswell and his step-father over locating a lost cell phone. Boswell was upset that his step-father would not help him look for the phone, became agressive and pushed him. The step-father retaliated by punching Boswell and calling law enforcement.

Boswell tested over the legal alcohol limit and was subsequently charged with assault and possession of marijuana. He was held in Clay County jail in anticipation of an appearance before a judge.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A pair of Spencer men were arrested on Saturday evening following a traffic stop by a Clay County Deputy of a truck pulling a car at an excessive speed without the proper towing equipment.

During the traffic stop the driver of the truck, 20-year-old Lucas Carstensen, ran from the Deputy after giving the Deputy his personal information. The Deputy chased him down and found that Carstensen had given a false name because his driver’s license was suspended for failure to pay Iowa fines. The passenger, 25-year-old Joshua Kunath was also arrested.

Both men were charged with no insurance and improper towing equipment. Carstensen was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license, interference with official acts, and giving false information to law enforcement. Both posted bond and were given a court date.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was jailed for making threats early Monday morning.

Storm Lake Police were called out in the 2:00 hour. They met with the reporting party who told police that 32-year-old Hugo Florentino Aguilar had been drinking at the home. Allegedly Aguilar started threatening to kill the family at the residence. He fled as police were being called.

Aguilar was later located and charged with 1st Degree Harassment and Public Intoxication. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,300 cash bond

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)–The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is looking to a Monday hit and run.

An unknown vehicle was heading south in the 3000 block of 410th Avenue when it entered the ditch and hit a culvert. The vehicle was removed before authorities arrived on scene
