Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Davenport man was arrested on a bevy of charges following investigation into a disturbance at the Sail Inn Motel in Storm Lake.

Storm Lake Police were called out shortly after midnight today and were told on scene that 29-year-old Richard Porter had allegedly engaged in an argument with several other motel guests outside of the motel. Porter then reportedly assaulted one of the guests and then retrieved an electric stun gun from his room and threatened several other guests. The witnesses were able to disarm and subdue Porter until police arrived at which time he was taken into custody.

As police were collecting statements and evidence at the scene they observed the door to Porter’s motel room to standing open and drug paraphernalia present in the room which was confiscated.

Following an investigation police charged Porter with a class D felony count of Going Armed With Intent, Assault While Displaying a Weapon, Public Intoxication 2nd Offense, Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on an $8,900 cash bond.

Porter sustained minor injuries when being subdued but declined medical attention. No other injuries were reported.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A domestic disturbance involving a woman armed with a knife ended with no injuries Thursday evening.

Storm Lake Police were told by the husband of 43-year-old Marisol Escamilla-Pearson of Storm Lake that she had allegedly become angry at him and began destroying a computer and other items in the apartment with a hammer. She then armed herself with a knife and used in a fashion that threatened the husband.

Following an investigation police charged Pearson with Domestic Assault While Displaying a Weapon. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Cherokee man has been jailed for harrassment.

Storm Lake Police were called to the McDonalds at Wal-Mart on Thursday evening. The reporting party told police that 21-year-old Derrick Bolden came into the establishment and argued with him over a previous incident. Bolden then reportedly threatened to jump over the service counter towards the victim. He then left the business and while doing so spit on a beverage machine and made a motion with his fingers towards the victim as if to shoot him.

Bolden was located shortly after the incident and charged with Disorderly Conduct and 3rd Degree Harassment. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $600 cash bond.

Rock Valley, IA (KICD)–The United States Post Office is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for destroying and stealing mailboxes.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated five reports of theft and vandalism near Rock Valley. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating similar incidents that occurred in their county. Mailboxes were either destroyed or stolen at each location. The crimes likely occurred during the overnight hours of Tuesday or the morning hours of Wednesday.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering up to a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible.
