Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Milford woman was hospitalized following a Tuesday afternoon accident.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old Steven Ness of Terril was driving north on Highway 71 in a 2004 Chevy 2500 pickup pulling a trailer loaded with hay bales at 2:35 p.m. He was rear ended by a 1995 Chevy Lumina driven by 84-year-old Betty Willison. The Lumina came to rest in the east ditch, and the pickup came to rest on the east shoulder.
Willison was transported to Spencer Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Spencer Police, Fire and Rescue and Spencer Hospital Paramedics assisted on scene.
The accident is still under investigation.
Hull, IA (KICD)–Two women were hospitalized following a midnight hour accident Sunday east of Hull.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Andrea Kersten of Hull was driving a 1999 Plymouth Neon eastbound on Highway 18 when shebecame distracted by the use of a cell phone. Kersten lost control of the vehicle, entered the south ditch and struck four tractors parked on the Van’s Implement lot.
Kersten and a passenger, 17-year-old Aleshia TeSlaa of Rock Valley, were both transported by Hull Ambulance to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley for treatment of minor injuries. Kersten was cited for failure to maintain control of the vehicle.
Hull Firefighters assisted on scene.
Hospers, IA (KICD)–An Alton woman was injured following a Sunday morning motorcycle accident south of Hospers.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Lindsey De Jong was driving a 1982 Yamaha XS400 motorcycle northbound on Highway 60 just after 11:00. She lost control of the motorcycle on a curve, entered the northwest ditch and was ejected from thebike.
De Jong was transported to the Orange City Hospital by Hospers Ambulance for treatment of her injuries. She was later transferred to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
The Hospers Fire Department assisted.
Sibley, IA (KICD)–A Sibley man was arrested last week following a tip from a concerned citizen of a possible drunk driver.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was contacted around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Following investigation 22-year-old Devan Schneidermann was placed under arrest for OWI 1st Offense.While being booked into jail, a marijuana pipe was found in Schneidermann’s waistline. He was then charged with a class D felony count of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a correctional facility and Possession of Marijuana.
Doon, IA (KICD)–The Lyon County Sheriff’s Departmrent is investigating a pair of burglaries in three days at the Doon Steakhouse.
Subjects entered through the same door on Sunday and Friday and removed the safe out of the office area. A miscellaneous amount of cash was in the safe. Anyone having any information in reference to these burglaries is asked to contact law enforcement
