Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Milford man was injured following an accident early this (Monday) morning at the North Y in Spencer

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Lynne Goeders of Mallard was stopped at the intersection in a 2009 Chevy K-3500 pickup at 6:12 a.m. Goeders was hit by a southbound 2005 GMC Envoy driven by 62-year-old Blair Bailey as she moved forward. Dense fog was a factor with both drivers having trouble seeing the other vehicle.

Bailey was taken to the Spencer Hospital by ambulance, treated, and released.

George, IA (KICD)–Three were injured following a Friday afternoon accident.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Anthony Thomas of George was heading south on Larch Avenue in a 1995 Dodge Ram around 1:20 P.M. Thomas failed to obey the stop sign and pulled into the path of a 2006 Peterbuilt semi driven by 75-year-old Verdell Groen of George. Groen was unable to stop in time and struck Thomas’s vehicle on the passengers side. Thomas’s vehicle got spun around and ended up in the east ditch on Larch Avenue. The semi ended up in a cornfield just past the intersection.

Both people in the pickup were transported to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids. 19-year-old Carol Thomas was airlifted to Sanford Sioux Falls. Their injuries are non life threatening . Groen was taken by personal vehicle to Sibley to be checked out.

The George Fire Department, George Rescue, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa DNR.assisted.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A litany of charges were filed by Storm Lake Police on Sunday morning.

An Officer spotted 27-year-old Pedro Delapaz of Storm Lake staggering. When the officer attempted to make contact with the male subject the man allegedly fled on foot and a foot pursuit ensued. Police chased Delapaz for three blocks where officers caught up to the male at which time he fought with officers. Police shot Depapaz with a Taser and then took him to the ground where he was subdued. As police were dealing with Delapaz he allegedly spit in the face of one of the officers.
Delapaz was transported by police to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment for exposure to a Taser. In addition Delapaz had a laceration to his arm which had occurred prior to the foot chase. Delapaz told police that he had been stabbed by another person at a party and that he had further been threatened with a gun. Delapaz was treated at the medical center and released to police.

Police responded to the scene of the party and took two men into custody. It is alleged that the party was shut down earlier. The participants disbanded but during the early morning hours of Sunday several people returned to the residence once again. Subsequently a fight broke out between three people, Delapaz being one of them. Delapaz reportedly became angry and broke out a window on a garage causing a laceration to his arm. He was not stabbed. A second person involved in the fight threatened to get a gun, however, police are unsure if a gun was ever displayed. A search of the home turned up a 243 caliber rifle with ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
Police subsequently charged Delapaz with Assault on a Peace Officer, Public Intoxication, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, and Disorderly Conduct. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,200 cash bond.

19-year-old Ceslestino Sosa Zomora of Storm Lake was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Harassment 3rd Degree.

21-year-old Jaime Soria of Lakeside was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass in connection with fight.

22-year-old Alberto Sosa of Storm Lake allegedly struggled with police but was subdued by officers. Sosa was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Interference With Official Acts (simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the county jail on a $600 cash bond.

No officers were injured.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Investigation into a disturbance at a Storm Lake apartment complex led to drug and alcohol charges early Sunday morning.

Storm Lake Police says 46-year-old Cory Long was found lying in the hallway of the apartment complex. He was charged with Public Intoxication 2nd Offense and Possession of Marijuana.

Long was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man has been charged in connection with an ongoing drug investigation.

23-year-old Howard Young was arrested Friday evening on 2 class D felony counts of Delivery of Marijuana. It is alleged that Young sold pot to a Storm Lake Police informant in July and August of this year.

Young was already being held in the Buena Vista County Jail the charges of Going Armed With Intent in connection with a fight in Storm Lake earlier in the week.

Police served the warrants on Young in the county jail where he is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–Two from Spencer were arrested on Sunday afternoon.

Spencer Police say 32-year-old Jason Marlow and 30-year-old Amanda Sheeler were each charged with public intoxication & disorderly conduct. Sheeler was also cited for criminal mischief.

Both were booked into Clay County jail.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Spencer man was arrested for domestic assault & interference with official acts on Saturday night.

Spencer Police booked 26-year-old Ryan Stone into Clay County jail.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–An extremely intoxicated Storm Lake man was jailed on Friday afternoon.
32-year-old Roderick Lewis became argumentative with Storm Lake Police at the Casey’s Central Store on Flindt Drive. Police determined that Lewis had a dangerously high blood alcohol content at which time they transported him to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Following treatment police transferred Lewis to the Buena Vista County Jail where he was charged with Public Intoxication 3rd Offense. He was booked into the jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

Royal, IA (KICD)–A Royal teen was arrested after setting a bathroom trash can on fire.

A Clay County Deputy was called to 308 Long Street in Royal for the report of a 911 hang up call. The Deputy spoke with the resident who said the neighbor had come into his house and called 911 and left. The neighbor was identified as a 13-year-old female.

It is alleged that the girl had gone into the house and started the bathroom trash can on fire. The resident of 308 Long St was able to put the fire out with no other damage to his property.

The teen was cited for reckless use of fire and released to her mother. The charged with be forwarded to the Clay County Juvenile Court.
