Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A series of arrests have been made in connection to an alleged conspiracy to sell marijuana in Storm Lake.
Storm Lake Police received information from the United Stated Postal Inspectors Office that a suspicious package had been intercepted that had been mailed from California to an address in Storm Lake. The Postal Inspector’s Office obtained a search warrant for the package and ascertained the package contained two pounds of high grade marijuana with a street value of $10,000.
Police and US Postal Inspector Agents conducted a controlled delivery of the package with surveillance teams monitoring early Tuesday evening. Three men were seen leaving the residence with the package and were taken into custody. A 4th man was arrested while officers were searching the home. A search of another home turned up an additional one quarter pound of marijuana, packaging materials, scales, documents reflecting cash wiring transactions, and silver bars with a cash value yet to be determined believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales. A 3rd home search led to the seizure of documentation on package shipping related to the investigation.
Approximately $1,700 in cash was also seized during the investigation which is believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.
45-year-old Derrick Roberts was charged with two class D felony counts each of Possession With Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.
28-year-old Phat Boonkhong was charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. He was booked into county jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
Larry Walker was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the county jail on a $1,300 cash bond.
25-year-old JT Cunningham was charged with Possession of Marijuana 3rd Offense. He was held on a $2,000 cash bond.
All of those arrested hail from Storm Lake.
Rock Rapids, IA (KICD-AP)–A former Lyon County deputy has been accused of sexually abusing a teenager.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Christopher Lincecum was arrested Tuesday and charged with a class C felony count of third-degree sexual abuse.
The department began investigating allegations of sexual assault involving a 15-year-old female. Upon discovery of these allegations, the Sheriff’s Office and County Attorney’s Office requested the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation take over and conduct an impartial investigation.
This investigation revealed that on two occasions, the victim went on a ride-along with Lincecum while he was working for the Sheriff’s Office. On one of these occasions, Lincecum allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with the victim.
The department says Lincecum left the department in the spring due to an unrelated matter. He was booked into jail and subsequently bonded out.
SLATER, Iowa (AP) – A construction worker has been seriously injured in a grain bin accident in central Iowa.
23-year-old Segoviano Israel Rodriguez of Storm Lake was hurt Tuesday evening when the roof of a grain bin he was helping build in Slater collapsed.Story County officials say Rodriguez was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines with possible head and neck injuries. He was listed in serious condition.
The roof collapse was reported shortly after 6 p.m. at the Heartland Cooperative on the outskirts of Slater, a town of about 1,500.
Officials say Rodriguez was pinned under debris when the roof of the bin fell. A crane was used to lift the roof, allowing medics to remove Rodriguez.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man has been arrested today (Wednesday) after violating the sex offender registry.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s office says 31-year-old Dion Banks was charged with two counts of violation of the sex offender registry. He did not provide accurate information for the registry.
He was placed in the Buena Vista County Jail and later released on bond.
Spencer, IA (KICD)–Three burglaries are being investigated in Osceola County.
Elevators in Ocheyedan, Ashton, and Allendorf all reported burglaries in office areas on Monday. The amount of cash taken is unknown. Anyone with information can contact the sheriff’s office.
