Terril, IA (KICD)–Two were hospitalized following an early Saturday evening accident west of Terril.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year-old Phoebe Hersom of Ruthven was heading south in the 2500 block of 270th Avenue in a 2001 Ford Expedition. Hersom fell asleep, went into the left ditch, came back onto the roadway and went into the right ditch. She attempted to get back onto the roadway again, but rolled before coming to a rest on the vehicle’s top.
Hersom and her 4-month-old passenger, Jennifer Hersom, were freed from the vehicle using extrication equipment. Both were transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with Phoebe’s injuries described as non-incapacitating and possible injuries for the child.
Agencies assisting include Milford Police and Fire, Terril Fire and Ambulance, and Spirit Lake Ambulance.
Sibley, IA (KICD)–A Sibley man was injured in a Wednesday afternoon accident.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says Robert Grave was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on 5th Avenue, north of 10th Street in Sibley shortly after 4:30 p.m. Grave lost control of the vehicle and jumped the east curb before striking a tree head on.
Grave was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with unknown injuries.
Sibley Ambulance assisted on scene of the accident which remains under investigation.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was arrested after making threats with a knife.
Storm Lake police responded to a report from a woman about an assault just before 3 Sunday morning. After arriving at 221 Oneida Street, the woman informed police 60-year-old Henry Jordan and the victim were having a disagreement. He then allegedly physically assaulted and made threats towards the victim who fled the residence.
After an investigation, Jordan was charged with domestic assault while displaying a weapon and is being held in the Buena Vista County jail without bond.
Spencer, IA (KICD)–A pair of teenage girls have been cited for underage alcohol possession.
A Clay County Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation shortly before 2:00 last Monday morning. It was found a 15-year-old from Dickens had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A cooler of beer was located in the vehicle and was found both females knew about it.
Both were cited for underage alcohol possession with the 17-year-old also cited and released for Speeding, No Insurance and Violation of an Instruction Permit. Both girls were was released to a responsible adult.
Dickens, IA (KICD)–Drug and alcohol charges were recently filed against a Dickens man.
A Clay County Deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle stopped on the traveled portion of the road shortly after midnight last Monday. It was found that 23-year-old Chase Hagedorn had driven to the location to fish. An open container of beer was located near the vehicle and Hagedorn was placed under arrest.
Hagedorn was transported to the Clay County Jail and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Public Consumption, No Insurance and Stopping on a Traveled Portion of an unpaved highway.
Passenger Haley Baker of Dickens was was cited and released for an Open Container violation.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Two Storm Lake men were arrested following an early Sunday morning traffic stop by Storm Lake Police.
32-year-old Sengprachanh Thabansouk was found to have a suspended Iowa driver’s license. During the traffic stop the SLPD K9 Unit conducted an exterior search of the car and the presence of illegal drugs were detected.
A search of the vehicle turned up a small baggie containing a white crystalline residue believed to methamphetamine. The bag and its contents were seized and will be forwarded to the Iowa DCI Laboratory for analysis.
A second person in the vehicle, 29-year-old Christopher Yahola, was wanted out of Indiana on a felony warrant charging him with Non Payment of Child Support.
Police arrested both men and charged Thabansouk with Driving While Suspended. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.
Yahola was arrested on the outstanding Indiana warrant and was booked into the county jail on a $46,000 cash bond. He is awaiting extradition back to Indiana.
