Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake woman was jailed after hitting her son with a car.

Storm Lake Police were called to a report of a male lying in the roadway. An investigation alleges that the 17-year-old and his mother, 33-year-old Esmeralda Vasquez-Espinoza were engaged in an argument and when the mother started to drive away to go confront a former girlfriend of the son, he attempted to stop his mother. The side of her car struck her son, spinning him and knocking him to the ground. The mother then departed in the vehicle.

Police broadcast a description of the vehicle and a short time later a Buena Vista County Deputy stopped Vasquez-Espinoza just west of Storm Lake on Highway 7.

Vasquez-Espinoza was charged with No Drivers License and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,300 cash bond.

The juvenile male was treated at the scene by paramedics but be was not transported to the medical center.

A report was filed with the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Sibley, IA (KICD)–Two from Sibley were arrested following the execution of a search warrant on Wednesday.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office started the investigation after receiving an anonymous Text-a-Tip. Following the search 26-year-old Reyes Ontiveros and 27-year-old Heather Lavoie were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia. Both were released after they each posted a $1,300 bond.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has received over 90 anonymous Text-A-Tips since implementing the program in 2008.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Multiple burglaries are being investigated in Storm Lake.

Police are looking into several burglaries that happened between June 20 and June 23 at various locations in the town. Among items taken were computer equipment, a television, jewelry, weapons and electronic games.

No arrests have been made and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Storm Lake Police.
