Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — Two are arrested after an assault at a water park.
On Saturday evening, Storm Lake Police were dispatched to Kings Pointe Resort, in reference to an assault.
Responding officers were advised that a male had reportedly been assaulted by a female in a guest room, and she was trying to leave the room.
Upon arrival, police located and detained 29-year old Cody Hanson 34-year old Heather Christensen, both of Atlantic. An investigation determined that both parties engaged in an argument in a guest room at which time Christensen and her children ages 3 and 7 attempted to leave. Hanson allegedly assaulted Christensen and then blocked the door keeping her from leaving the room. Christensen then allegedly struck Hansen in the face with a cell phone injuring Him and then called 911.
Police conducted a consent search of Christensen’s vehicle at which time they allege they located and seized hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia related to the use of methamphetamines.
Further investigation led police to arrest Hanson and charged him with False Imprisonment, and Domestic Assault. He was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and then released, then transferred to the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
Christensen was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Child Endangerment and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was booked into the county jail and held without bond.
The two children, who were unharmed, were taken into protective custody by police and later released to a grandparent. A report has been made to the Iowa Department of Human Services.
Spencer, IA (KICD) — A dispute between two inmates results in a charge against one.
On Saturday, a Clay County Deputy was informed that around 3-pm, an altercation occurred between two inmates. After investigation, it was determined that one of the inmates, 45-year old Christopher Wood had assaulted the other inmate.
As a result, Wood was charged with Assault. there were no injuries in the altercation.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A wanted man isi arrested after being observed by an officer.
On Saturday afternoon, a Storm Lake Police Officer on patrol observed a wanted person at 802 West 6th Street. After making contact with the individual, police arrested 44-year old Everlena Johnson-Smith, of Storm Lake, who was wanted by the Storm Lake Police Department on the charge of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, a class D felony.
Smith was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000.00 cash bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — An arrest is made in a connection to a drug investigation.
Back on July 30th, Storm Lake Police executed a search warrant at an address in connection with the an investigation into the sale of illegal drugs in Storm Lake. At the time of the search warrant, 45-year old Derrick Roberts, age 45 of Storm Lake, on 2 counts of Possession With the Intent to Deliver Marijuana.
While at the apartment, it was determined by police that the apartment was leased to 37-year old Mai Saengkio, of Storm Lake. It was also learned that Saengkio was receiving housing assistance from the Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Authority.
Police allege that Saengkio failed to report Roberts living with her and his respective income and in doing so fraudulently obtained $5,800.00 in housing assistance by filing false information and failing to report accurate income information.
As a followup to that investigation, Storm Lake Police arrested Saengkio on Friday, and charged her with Fraudulent Practices 2nd Degree, a class D felony.. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000.00 cash bond.
