Estherville, IA (KICD)–Two teens were arrested following a three county pursuit over the weekend.
Emmet County Deputies and Armstrong Police joined in the chase in the early morning hours on Saturday. A 2002 Dodge Caravan was called in for driving erratically in the area of Swan Lake in rural Emmet County and the caller followed the car.
Armstrong Police attempted to stop the car which attempted to flee east on Highway 9. An Emmet County Deputy joined the pursuit which reached speeds up to 110 miles per hour through Kossuth and into Winnebago County on Highway 9 for 31 miles until the vehicle came to a stop near Thompson. It was determined that the occupants were reported missing three hours earlier from Forest Ridge in rural Emmet County.
Both of the teens were charged with a class D felony count of theft of a motor vehicle. The driver was also charged with a class D felony count of eluding a law enforcement vehicle, speeding (110 mph in a 55 mph zone), (100 mph in a 45 mph zone), (100 mph in a 35 mph zone), (100 mph in a 25 mph zone) and failure to have a driver’s license. They were both transported to Youth Emergency Services in Cherokee where they will remain pending further action by Juvenile Court.
Spencer, IA (KICD)–Nobody was injured in an OWI rear-end collision that occurred on Thursday evening.
Clay County Deputies responded to a collision on Highway 71 in the 3800 mile at approximately 10:23 P.M . It was determined that 59-year-old Richard Jensen of Albert City rear-ended a 2007 Dodge Durango with his 2003 Honda Odyssey after 35-year-old Robert Gray of Cherokee stopped at a red light in an area currently under construction.
It was determined that Jensen was under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with O.W.I 1st Offense and Failure to Stop at a Safe Assured Distance.
Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Spencer man was caught operating while intoxicated for the 3rd time on Sunday morning.
37-year-old Brent Hauge was stopped by a Clay County Deputy for an equipment violation. Upon investigation Brent Hauge was placed under arrest on a class D felony count of OWI third offense.
Hauge was transported and booked into the Clay County Jail.
Hull, IA (KICD)–A Hull man on a motorcycle was hospitalized after being struck by a pickup Monday evening.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Heath Oostenink was driving a 1982 Honda motorcycle eastbound on 3rd Street in Hull around 8:19 p.m. 28-year-old Justin Van Schepen of Hull was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup northbound on Elm Street. He struck the motorcycle in the intersection.
Oostenink was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was later airlifted to St. Lukes Hospital in Sioux City.
Van Schepen was issued a citation for failure to obey yield sign.
The Hull Fire Department and Hull Ambulance assisted on scene.
Sioux Center, IA (KICD)–An Alton woman was arrested after a report of unsafe driving.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report Monday about a person driving in an unsafe manner on 400th Street. 23-year-old Jennie Knie was driving eastbound in a 2009 Mazda MZ3. She stopped at the intersection of 400th Street and Jackson Avenue wherer she was located by deputies.
She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and OWI.
A drug recognition expert assisted with the investigation.
