Laurens, IA (KICD)–Laurens Water Supply will have the water shut off for several hours on Friday.
Work is slated to be performed on the distribution system as a part of the water main project on Veterans Road. Once the water is turned back on residents are being asked to not drink any water without boiling it first.
Water Superintendent Julian Johnsen tells KICD News he expects this advisory to last through the weekend.
Laurens Water Supply customers are advised to bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using or simply use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation as boilng kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Tap water can still be used for bathing and other similar purposes.
Bacteria results are expected to be returned on Sunday evening.
