ICA President Wants Input From Members

The President of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) wants to hear from his members on a couple of issues.

Ed Greiman of Garner says he wants to get a sense of what his members are thinking ahead of the ICA’s annual policy meeting in December.

Greiman says one issue is on ethanol and the Renewable Fuels Standard. The ICA has historically supported the Iowa ethanol industry, but with talk of 15% ethanol and more corn being used to produce the fuel, Greiman says he wants to know if that support is still there.

Another issue is Country of Origin labeling of meat. The U.S. Agriculture Department wants to make the labeling mandatory. Cattlemen generally prefer voluntary labeling. Greiman wants member input on that issue too.

Greiman says members should call the state office with their input. ICA’s annual policy meeting will be held December 09 – 11 in Altoona.
