Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — Two receive possible injuries after a two vehicle collision.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 9 and N-14, Wednesday afternoon. 57-year old Alan Showman of Jackson was driving a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire northbound on N-14, and came to a stop at the intersection.
As an eastbound semi slowed to make a right turn onto N-14, showman pulled the Pontiac forward slightly into the intersection, to allow more room for the semi, but failed to see an eastbound 2004 Mazda, driven by 27-year old Dustin Crees of Estherville, that was just behind the semi.
The Pontiac then struck the Mazda in the passenger side. Showman complained of a sore wrist, after the accident, and Crees told the State Patrol in a follow-up, that he went to the doctor Thursday morning, after waking up with general ache and stiffness, and went to the doctor.
Both vehicles received about $3000 in damage in the accident, but were able to be driven away from the scene. There was fog and smoke that may have been a factor.
