Highway 60 Semi Accident

Hospers, IA (KICD) — There were no serious injuries in a semi accident near Hospers.

Just after noon, Tuesday, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on Highway 60, one mile south of Hospers.  23-year old Luke Skaila of Scranton was driving a 2014 Peterbuilt semi-tractor northbound on Hwy. 60. He was pulling a 1979 FRUE tanker-trailer, which was loaded with non-hazardous liquid nitrogen fertilizer.

Skalla lost control of the vehicle, which entered the median and rolled multiple times.  Skalla refused medical treatment at the scene. The Peterbuilt sustained approximately $150,000 damage. The trailer sustained $30,000 damage.

Skalla was cited for failure to maintain control.

Assisting at the scene was the Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa State Patrol.
