Highway 18 Accident

Spencer, IA (KICD) — 3 people are injured in a 2 vehicle accident on Highway 18.

The Clay County Sheriffs Office said,shortly after 9 Wednesday morning, 45-year old Kristi Donaker of George was eastbound in a Ford Econoline van, owned by George-Little Rock Schools, when she stopped in the 1300 mile of Highway 18 to avoid hitting a deer that came upon the highway.  The van was then rear ended by a 1999 Peterbilt semi pulling a trailer, driven by 43-year old Kevin Lewis, of Lebanon, Missouri.

Three passengers in the van received minor injuries and were transported to Spencer Hospital for treatment.  There were no school children in the van at the time of the mishap.  The van and the semi each received an estimated $5000 in damages.

Assisting at the scene was Everly Fire And Rescue, Spencer Fire And Rescue, and Spencer Hospital Paramedics.
