Des Moines, IA (KICD)–Governor Terry Branstad has ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Tuesday from 8-5 to honor Rockwell City Police Officer Jamie Buenting, who was killed in the line of duty last Friday morning.
Buenting, a married father of two, was shot during a standoff early Friday in Rockwell City. Police arrested 32-year-old Corey Trott and charged him with first-degree murder in Buenting’s death.
Flags will be at half-staff on the state Capitol building and on flag displays in the Capitol complex, and upon all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
