Gere Creek Funding Approved

Cherokee, IA (KICD)–A grant for nearly $300,000 has been approved to assist with soil conservation and livestock access at Gere Creek in Cherokee County.

Jerry Neppel with the Iowa Division of Soil Conservation tells KICD News that what makes this project unique is its association with the ongoing assessment of the Mill Creek watershed, which is a major tributary into the Little Sioux River.

Neppel says this $300,000 will just be a start if the project gets off on the right footing.

The Watershed Improvement Review Board allocated this funding out of their $3 million budget for the year.
