Des Moines, IA (KICD)–An Estherville man has been recognized as an Iowan of the Day at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.
19-year-old Cole Mace was a very unique nomination because he is only 19 years old. The majority of winners in the past have been much older.
His volunteerism within the Estherville community hasn’t gone unnoticed. One of Mace’s many honors includes the Presidential Award, which recognizes students for 100 volunteer hours in one school year.
Mace is currently enrolled in the Wind Energy Turbine Technology program at Iowa Lakes Community College and has recently become a member of the Estherville Elks Club.
Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day program allows the Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize Iowa’s most outstanding individuals.
