Milford, IA (KICD)–The Milford Fire Department battled a grass fire for about two and a half hours on Wednesday.
Firefighters were called to 1846 190th St. at 3:30pm, approximately a mile and a half west of Wahpeton. The fire was started by an individual cutting hay. The Spirit Lake Fire Department was immediately called for mutual aid. Approximately 40 acres burned.
Fire Chief Jim Carpenter would like to remind everyone that it has been a while since we have had a good amount of rain and vegetation is beginning to dry out, so it would be a good idea to have a means of extinguishment handy.
