Dickinson County City Elections Set

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–There are plenty of contested races set to appear on the November city election ballot in Dickinson County.

In Okoboji incumbent Mayor Mary Vander Woude will look to fend off a challenge from Leo Butch Parks for the 2nd time. There are three open spots on the Okoboji City Council with six candidates on file including Julie Mau Andres, Walter Mendenhall, Barry Shaw Sackett, Robert Sandahl, and incumbents Steve Dulin and Jerry Robinson.

In Arnolds Park Mayor Michael Mitchell will face off against Len Rettinger III. Incumbent Councilmembers Mike Koppert and Mitchell Watters will be joined on the ballot by Rick Reed and Matt Richter for two open spots.

In Milford Mayor Don Lamb will run unopposed. Three open city council seats will be contested by incumbents Michael Anderson and Christopher Hinshaw and newcomers WIlliam Huse, Mary Kay Rolling, Jason Simpson, and John Walters.

Orleans Mayor Bill Maas has no listed challenger. Kristine Hoss will look to upend one of three city council incumbents including Eric Anderson, Keith Ostrum, and Benjamin Radcliffe.

There are no other contested races in Dickinson County.

in Spirit Lake all incumbents refiled including Mayor Blain Andera and Councilmembers John Chappas and Clyde Ihrke.

In Lake Park Mayor John Engel has filed for another term. Incumbent Councilmembers Lance Heikens and Clark Reekers are joined on the ballot by Julie Baumgarn for three open spots.

All incumbents refiled in Terril including Mayor Darrell Woods Jr. and Councilmembers Brian D. Brawner and Jeri Nissen.

In Superior all incumbents refiled including Mayor Everett Houge and Councilmembers Kirk Gates, Ben Hawn, and Rachel Hawn.

In Wahpeton Mayor John Engel has filed as did city council incumbents Harold Prior and Thomas Rierson. Steven Feld will look to fill the final council spot.

In West Okoboji Mayor Larry Traughber has filed for another term. Robert Hein will look to join incumbent Councilmember Mike Paxton.
