Milford, IA (KICD)–Dickinson County Public Health is hosting a Flu Vaccination Clinic this Friday in Milford.
This year’s flu vaccine protects against the three most common flu viruses expected to circulate this year. According to the CDC, people should get vaccinated every year because even if the viruses in the vaccine are the same as the year before, immunity to influenza viruses declines over time and may be too low to provide protection after a year.
The cost per vaccination is $25, and typically only one shot is needed for complete vaccination, although some children ages 6 months to 8 years may need two shots. The flu vaccine will be available as an injection or as nasal spray for a specified population.
Friday’s flu clinic is scheduled for 9:00 a.m – Noon at Lakes Regional Healthcare’s Community Health Center in Milford. Those interested in receiving the vaccine can call Dickinson County Public Health at 712-336-2682.
