Construction Accident

Hull, IA (KICD) — A Construction accident causes over $400,000 in damage.

Shortly after 4 Friday afternoon, the Sioux County Sheriffs Office responded to a construction accident at a residential site near 1st and Okey Streets in Hull.

44-year old Gregory Rens of Hull was operating a  2014 Mack Cement Pumper Boom, when the pump tube made contact with an overhead Mid-American Energy power line.  The line was severed, then fell on the pumper truck. causing the tires to melt, and one of them to rupture and striking the trucks windshield, damaging it.

Other electrical operating systems in the truck were also destroyed.  Electrical power was interrupted in parts of Hull for about an hour and a half, while the damaged power line was repaired.  No injuries were reported.
the truck received approximately $400,000 in damages, and damage to the power line was estimated at $500.
