Clay County Accident & Arrest

Everly, IA (KICD)–Three people were injured as a result of a Sunday evening accident at Barb’s Corner.

The Iowa State Patrol says 76-year-old Barbara Weier of Hartley was heading east on Highway 18 in a 2008 Saturn Vue shortly before 6:00 p.m. At this time 33-year-old Marissa Hopcroft of Paullina was coming gin the opposite direction in a 1996 Chrysler Van. Weier went to make a left turn into the Barb’s Corner parking lot and Hopcroft was not able to avoid hitting Weier’s passenger side front fender with her van. Weier’s car came to rest after bumping into the rear tire of a pickup in the parking lot. Hopcroft’s van came to rest against the sidewalk curb in front of the restaurant .

Both drivers and Weier’s passenger, 87-year-old Jean Rohlf were taken to Spencer Hospital by Spencer Ambulance. Weier and Rohlf suffered incapacitating injuries.

Clay County Deputies and Everly Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A wanted Spencer man was jailed on Wednesday night by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

21-year-old Benjamin Ginger was wanted on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault and Assault while Displaying a Weapon. He was held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
