Cherokee Man Charged With Attempted Murder

Cherokee, IA (KICD)–A Cherokee man has been charged with attempted murder.

Cherokee Police received a 911 call from a woman shortly after 7:30 Tuesday night reporting that 34-year-old Joseph Kosiba had broken into her house and was trying to killer her.  The woman and her daughter fled from the home.  A Storm Lake man was allegedly assaulted by Kosiba with a hammer.

Kosiba was charged with class B felony charges of attempted murder and 1st degree burglary, class D felony counts of assault while participating in a felony, willful injury, and going armed with intent and domestic abuse assault.  Kosiba was held in Cherokee County jail.

Cherokee County Deputies and the Iowa State Patrol assisted on scene.
