Orange City, IA (KICD) — A Sanborn man is sentenced to prison time in District Court.
On Monday, 22-year old Zachery Buckwald received the sentence in Sioux County District Court, according to Soux County Attorney Coleman McAllister. The sentence was issued on the crime of Prisoner Possessing a Controlled Substance While Confined, a class D felony.
Buckwald was confined at the Residential Treatment Facility in sheldon, as a result of a conviction of Delivery of Methamphetamine, in O’Brien County in 2010. Earlier this year, on May 6th, facility staff searched Buckwald’s room at the RTF and discovered a clonezepam pill hidden in a ball cap . Officers determined it was only available by prescription which Buckwald didn’t have.
Buckwald pled guilty, and was sentenced to five years in prison. The Court ordered the prison term to be run consecutively to the 10-year prison sentence Defendant is already serving arising because of the O’Brien County drug conviction. Defendant was also ordered to submit a DNA sample for DNA profiling as required by Iowa law.
