Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Spencer teen is injured after striking a pickup while riding his bicycle.
Shortly before 10 this (Friday) morning, Spencer Police responded to the accident at the intersection of 1st Avenue West and West 8th Street. 18-year old Jonathon Ferguson was northbound on 1st Avenue West on a stunt bicycle with no working brakes, when he ran a stop sign, and rode his bike into the passenger side of an eastbound pickup, driven by 61-year old James Mingus of Spencer.
Ferguson was critically injured in the crash, and was taken to the Spencer Hospital. He was later life flighted to Sioux Falls. Mingues was not injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was the Spencer fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
