Spencer, IA (KICD)–Clay County Fairgoers will have a nearby beer tent for the first time ever.
Jim Parks tells KICD News that his mother is at the point in her life where she wants to liquidate the 6.4 acre property that his family owns adjacent to the north gate of the fairgrounds.
Parks talked with the city and found that he could abide by all of their rules, chief among them that at least 50 percent of his revenue come from food sales. Parks says that this is hopefully just the 1st step in developing the property.
Woodford’s At The Fair, a 45’x65’ Budweiser tent, is named in honor of Parks’ mother’s maiden name. Since its inception 97 years ago, the Clay County Fair has been a dry venue and Parks notes that he is trying to keep things on the up and up and family friendly.
Woodford’s At The Fair will shut down at 7:00 p.m. daily.
