Spencer, IA (KICD)–The deadline to file for the 2013 School board elections has passed
In Clay County there are three open spots on the Spencer School Board with six candidates on file. The terms for Bob Whittenburg, Dean Mechler, and Bill Zinn are up this year and all three re-filed. Others on the ballot include Alison Herman, Mark Jensen, and Karee Joy Muilenburg. All of those spots are at large. There are four open spots on the Clay Central Everly School Board. Those on file include incumbents Matt Schoning in District 2, Brian Schmitt in District 3, and Scott Rinehart in District 5. Dave Saboe stepped down in District 4 where Allison Goyette is the lone listed candidate. CCE Candidates must reside in the correlating district but all district patrons vote for each spot on the board.
Elsewhere in nearby districts Spirit Lake features two at large open seats with incumbent Todd Hummel running for another term and Scott Trautman looking to fill the seat being vacated by Randy Magg. There are two open seats for the Okoboji School Board which were held by Laurie Simington and Deanna Wermersen who both decided not to run. Jeff Nielsen and Stacy Titterington will be on the ballot for Okoboji.
There are three open seats on the Ruthven-Ayrshire School Board with two candidates on file including incumbent Susan Sikora and Darin Malm. Incumbents Kyle Norris and Matthew Hanson will run unopposed for the Graettinger-Terril board.
Randy Ripke and Lory Krummen are both back on file for the Sioux Central School Board. District 1 board member Lynn Barbier has moved into District 3 where she will challenge Krummen. Nobody is listed in District 1.
For Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn seats up for election include District 2 where Lynn Younie is the lone candidate, District 3 where no candidate is on file, and District 5 which features Daniel Duncan, Lindsey Rupp, and Scott Vollink.
The South O’Brien School District features openings in District 1 with Darrell Rehder as incumbent back on file, District 3 where Kevin Nelson has refiled, and District 6 which has no listed candidate.
School Board elections will be held September 10th.
