Car Vs Fence Post

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) — Two people received minor injuries in a single vehicle accident.

On Saturday, the Palo Alto County Sheriffs Office was called out to an accident at 3818 400th Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2008 Mercury Sable, driven by 41-year old Lae Taw of Storm Lake was eastbound, when the driver lost control.

The Mercury entered the south ditch, then struck a fence post.  Taw was not injured in the accident, but two of three passengers received minor injuries.

Assisting in the incident was the Storm Lake Police Department.


Highway 4 Trailer Accident

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) — No injuries were reported after a trailer detaches from the vehicle pulling it.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriffs Office, the accident occurred Friday, in the 4100 block of Highway 4.  A 2008 Chevy Silverado, pulling a reconstructed trailer, was being driven by Jessie Fulkerth of Laurens southbound and was following an unknown white Jimmy and a 2005 Dodge Ram, driven by Edward Luchsinger of Laurens.

The GMC Jimmy slowed to turn into a farm driveway, which caused Luchsinger to slow quickly to avoid collision.  As a result, Fulkerth tried to slow quickly as well, which caused the trailer being pulled to detach from the Silverado, and striking the rear of the truck.

There were no injuries, but the trailer received approximately $500 in damage, while the pickup suffered an estimated $2000 in damage.  There was also an estimated $500 done to the contents of the trailer.


Truck Pole Accident

Jackson, MN (KICD) — A Minnesota man was injured in a 3 vehicle accident.

Around 8:25 Tuesday morning, a Federated Rural Electric truck, driven by 30-year old Kollin Vandevere of Jackson was stopped, at the intersection of Highway 71 and Bailey Street in Jackson.

According to the Jackson County Sheriffs Office,  a Tennyson Construction vehicle driven by 34-year old Terry Kooiker of Truman stopped behind the REA truck, when it was struck from behind by another Tennyson Construction vehicle, driven by 23-year old Donavon Palmquist of Fairmont.

The impact of the collision, pushed the Kooiker vehicle into a wooden pole that was being hauled by the REA truck. The pole went through the windshield, striking Kooiker.  He was transported by ambulance to Sanford Jackson Medical Center for treatment of facial injuries.
