Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–A Minnesota man was arrested early Thursday morning following a report of a someone possibly breaking into cars.
Spirit Lake Police say the scene was the parking lot at 1514 Hill Avenue. Following investigation 22-year-old David Hegg of Ghent was arrested for 3rd degree burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, and carrying a weapon.
Sutherland, IA (KICD)–A Cherokee woman was arrested early Tuesday morning by Sutherland Police.
Charges filed against 34-year-old Shana Anderson include possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and driving with no insurance
Hospers, IA (KICD)–Investigation into a van in a ditch on Highway 60 in Hospers leads to charges against a Wakefield man.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old Jorge Herrera-Dominguez was driving a 1996 Ford van southbound on Highway 60 when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the west ditch. No injuries were reported.
Herrera-Dominguez was eventually arrested for driving while suspended, no driver’s license, no insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and 2nd offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-drugged.
Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Spencer man is jailed after driving over 100 miles per hour.
Around 9:25 Tuesday evening, the Clay County Sheriffs Office made a traffic stop at the intersection of 320th Street and the Highway 71/18. 22-year old Thomas Carney, was allegedly going 104 mph, in a 55 mph zone.
He was charged with Speeding, Careless Driving, and No Insurance, and was taken to the Clay County Jail and booked, and is awaiting an appearance before the magistrate.
Sioux Center, IA (KICD)–Identity theft and forgery charges were filed over the weekend after the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a Text-a-Tip report.
It was determined that 39-year-old Nieves Hernandez-Macias of Sioux Center was using the identity belonging to another person to gain employment at Natural Food Holdings, two miles south of Sioux Center.
The Sioux County Drug Recognition Expert assisted with the investigation.
Boyden, IA (KICD)–A Boyden man was arrested Sunday following a five-month long drug investigation.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alex Miller for Delivery of Marijuana.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake couple faces charges following investigation into a civil dispute.
Once on scene Storm Lake Police found personal items thrown in the hallway. 46-year-old Corry Long told police that his girlfriend, 35-year-old Kawana Sandlin, and him engaged in a verbal argument in the apartment and that Sandlin allegedly armed herself with a butcher knife and threatened to cut and stab him. She then fled from the scene dropping the knife in the apartment complex hallway.
During the investigation police received additional information that Long had reportedly assaulted Sandlin during the disturbance also.
Sandlin was later arrested for Domestic Assault While Displaying a Weapon. Long was charged with Domestic Assault. Both were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A 2-year old girl found unattended leads to charges against her mother.
Around 2:50 Friday afternoon, Storm Lake Police received a call about a small child that was found unattended. As police reponded to the location, they talked with the reporting party that took custody of the child.
A subsequent search located the child’s mother at her residence about 25 minutes later.The mother, 25-year old Lizette Gonzalez didn’t realize her daughter was missing.
As a result, Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2000 cash bond. The child was unharmed and was left in the care of other family members. A report was filed with the Iowa Department of Human Services.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A loud party on Grand Avenue in Storm Lake leads to a pair of arrests early Saturday morning.
As officers were disbanding the party they observed two people reportedly hiding in the backyard. 22-year-old Bridget Murillo of Alta allegedly attempted to flee on foot. A brief foot pursuit ensued at which time she was apprehended.
Murillo was charged with Interference With Official Acts and Public Intoxication. She was booked into the county jail on a $600.00 cash bond.
Police also arrested 21-year-old Eric Niyrize of Rwanda in the back yard. . He was charged him with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Niyrize was booked into the county jail on a $1,300 cash bond.
Two others were charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Four from Storm Lake were charged following a Friday investigation.
Storm Lake Police were called out to 605 Superior Street and once on scene observed a white Ford Sedan driving away from the scene northbound in the alley. As officers activated their sirens to stop the vehicle police allege the vehicle fled northbound in a reckless manner attempting to elude police. 19-year-old Pabla Francisca Avendano was eventually pulled over in the parking lot at the Storm Lake High School. When Avendao got out of her car she failed to place her car in park and her car rolled backwards and struck a Storm Lake Police car.
Avendano was charged with Eluding, Reckless Driving, .02 Alcohol Civil Violation, Speeding, No Insurance, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Unsafe Backing. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,300 cash bond.
Police later went to the Superior Street address and met with 23-year-old Jose Cortes who allegedly refused to exit the apartment and speak with them. His siblings, 24-year-old Raquel Cortez and 18-year-old Jorge Cortez allegedly obstructed officers and attempted to block officers from arresting Jose Cortez. A physical confrontation ensued and police took both Jose and Jorge to the ground at which time they were subdued and taken into custody. Police further arrested Raquel Cortez for obstructing officers and it was further learned that she reportedly had assaulted Avendano prior to the arrival of police.
Raquel Cortez was charged with Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Interference With Official Acts. She was booked into jail on a $900 cash bond.
Jose Cortez and Jorge Cortez were both charged with Disorderly Conduct and Interference With Official Acts. They were both booked into jail on a $600 cash bond each.
