Alta, IA (KICD) — Students are back at the high school in Aurelia after the building was shut down to assess storm damage Monday.
Alta-Aurelia Superintendent Lynn Evans says the crowd attending Friday night’s home football game was ushered into the building just as a tornado hit town.
Evans says the school is fully insured for the approximate 750 thousand dollars in damage.
Structural engineers decided Monday it was safe for students to resume classes at Alta Aurelia. Superintendent Evans says reparing the gymnasium roof so rain doesn’t ruin the floor is priority number one.
