Algona, IA (KICD)–Algona High School took top prize in this year’s video contest in conjunction with the second Governor’s Bullying Prevention Summit.
Algona Senior Beth Benschoter – who produced the video – tells KICD News that while most seemed to focus on the negative aspects of bullying, they took a different route.
Benschoter says last Fall the Algona Leadership class started a project which was highlighted in their video.
The community has rallied around the effort and the movement is spreading.
Algona High School will receive a $500 check for bullying prevention efforts and visit by Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds for an all-school assembly.
There were a total of 30 videos submitted for the contest which can all be viewed at https://educateiowa.eduvision.tv/default.aspx under the “Bully Prevention Entries” channel.
