Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–A Spirit Lake teen was injured in a Monday morning accident.

Spirit Lake Police say 16-year-old Kiley Cousins of Arnolds Park was heading west on Highway 9 shortly before 1:00 a.m. in a 2003 Volkswagon Bug. Cousins collided with the curb, left the roadway, and fishtailed across the grass and bike trail. She then collided with a tree and the car fell into an embankment before coming to a rest in the lake.

A passenger, 17-year-old Kiley Christensen, was extricated by mechanical means. She was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare by their ambulance crew with possible injuries.

Cousins was cited for failure to maintain control and violating a condition of her restricted license.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Spencer man was taken to the hospital following a Sunday afternoon motorcycle accident.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 50-year-old Douglas Bredeson was traveling north on 280th Ave when he lost control of his 2008 Harley Davidson entering the curve onto B-24. Bredeson entered the north ditch and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Bredeson was transported to Spencer Hospital for minor injuries.

Dickens Fire and Rescue and Spencer EMT’s assisted on scene.

Ireton, IA (KICD)–An Orange City man was taken to the hospital following a Friday afternoon accident.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old William Donovan was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am westbound on Highway 10, north of Ireton, at 4:00. 38-year-old Jorge Topete of Hawarden was coming in the opposite direction in a 2006 GMC Sierra. Donovan then turned left onto Eagle Avenue in the path of Topete’s vehicle, causing a collision within the intersection.

Donovan was transported to the Orange City Hospital by the Ireton Ambulance for treatment of his injuries. He was cited for failure to yield upon making left turn and violation of driver’s license restrictions.

Ireton Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.

Little Rock, IA (KICD)–A Little Rock woman was taken to the hospital after rolling a vehicle Thursday evening.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, 16 year old Kelsey Nasers was heading south in a 2002 Dodge Stratus shortly after 8:30 on Lily Avenue. She lost control, the vehicle went into the east ditch and overturned.

Nasers was taken by the Little Rock Ambulance to the Sibley Hospital. A passenger was later taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

Little Rock Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was arrested following a Sunday afternoon OWI accident.

Upon arrival of Storm Lake Police, they observed a 2006 Mazda that allegedly was driven into both a tree and a fence. They were told the occupants fled from the scene.

The alleged driver, 21-year-old Po Jue, was found and charged with OWI, Striking Fixtures, and Failure to Provide Information. He was booked into the county jail on a $1,000 cash bond.
No injuries were reported.

Remsen, IA (KICD)–Authorities dealt with a man from Marcus Saturday morning.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance from Plymouth County Deputies locating 26-year-old Kyle Hodges, who was involved in a serious assault incident that took place in Cherokee earlier in the morning. It was believed he was going to Remsen to drop off his 4 -year-old child at his sister’s.

Cherokee Deputies spotted Kyle and the child in that area, but then lost contact with Kyle between houses. The child had already been dropped off and was safe. Kyle had fled on foot. Kyle’s vehicle was located a few blocks away unoccupied behind the car wash.

A perimeter was set up by the Deputies along with Remsen Police and the Iowa State Patrol. The sioux County K-9 was called on scene to track Hodges, who was reported in a garage by a 9-1-1 call. After a short foot pursuit, Plymouth County deputies took Kyle Hodges into custody without further incident. Hodges was arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Jail.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A Storm Lake man was held without bond following a Sunday morning domestic assault.

The reporting party told Storm Lake Police that her boyfriend, 30-year-old Jonathon Garcia, had allegedly physically assaulted her. Upon meeting with Garcia Police allege he refused to cooperate with officers instructions while being placed under arrest. Police then deployed a Taser and subdued Garcia.

Buena Vista County EMS responded to the scene and checked Garcia after he was exposed to a Taser shot. He was then cleared for incarceration.
Police charged Garcia with Domestic Assault 3rd Offense, a class D felony, and Interference With Official Acts. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
