Ruthven, IA (KICD) — No injuries came as a result of a semi vs train accident. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a loaded semi-truck and trailer was northbound on Stewart Street, going to the elevator dump site, when the driver Ernie Pooler of Ruthven, failed to see the oncoming westbound Canadian Pacific train heading towards the crossing. The train the struck the loaded trainer full of corn, just ahead of the rear axles, tearing the trailer in half. there were no injuries, and the train did not derail from the accident, which remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Ruthven Fire Department, Ruthven Ambulance and employees of Pro Coop elevator in Ruthven.
