2nd Reading Passes for Iowah Chicken Bouillon Project

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The 2nd filing of an ordinance zoning change which would clear the way for the Iowah Chicken Bouillon project to proceed passed by a 5-1 vote at Tuesday night’s Spencer City Council session.

A motion to suspend the rules and move forward with the final filing did not occur as there was not a super majority in favor as Councilmember Steve Bomgaars voted against the zoning change.

Hy-Line International Human Resource Director Tom Jorgenson was on hand at last night’s meeting and noted he wanted a chance to look over a recently received letter.

Company officials asked that Jorgenson refrain from any additional comment on this matter and that they let the process play itself out. Hy-Line indicated concern at the last council meeting over the potential of cross contamination.

Hensall Condiments is looking to construct a 150,000 square foot building on a 40 acre site at the Green Industrial Center across from the Pioneer building. It is estimated by year three of operation that Iowah Chicken Bouillon would be responsible for just over 433 jobs in the region with a potential $51 million yearly impact to Spencer and the surrounding area
