Spencer, IA (SCT)--“Winnie the Pooh” will be held Friday, June 29th and Saturday, June 30th.
About Auditions (Where do I go? What do I do?)
When are auditions? Where do I go?
Auditions are Friday, June 29 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at the SCT Playhouse located at 518- 1st Ave. E. in Spencer. Doors open half an hour prior to stated audition time. Please note that it is not necessary to attend both audition times; one or the other will suffice.
What do I need to bring with me? Should I prepare anything in advance?
Please be prepared to sing, dance and act! We’ll teach a song for everyone to sing, a short dance, and we’ll also be playing some improv and theatre games. Additionally, we will be reading from the script. You’re welcome to read the script beforehand- they are available for checkout at the SCT Administrative Offices on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can stop in anytime during business hours (M-F 11-5:30) and check out a copy to look over. Parents & Guardians- please bring your child’s schedule/ calendar with you in order to list rehearsal conflicts on the audition form.
Closed Auditions:
Auditions for “Winnie the Pooh: Kids” are closed, meaning that only the child auditioning and the Directing/ Management team of the production are allowed in the audition space. There will be a waiting room provided for parents.
Dropping off & Picking up:
Auditions will last approximately 2 hours, but this is just an estimation- the number of kids who show up to audition affects how long they run; we do our best to keep it within 2 hours. Please come in with your child to auditions at the beginning so you can fill out the audition form for them, or help them fill out the audition form (this is especially important in regards to the schedule part of the audition form). Once the form is filled out and auditions begin, you may stay and wait for them, or leave and come back after a couple of hours. You may also instruct your child to call you when they are finished with the audition; a phone will be available for them to call you.
About the Show (What is this “Winnie the Pooh: Kids”?)
What’s this show all about?
Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing snacks! Based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and the 2011 Disney animated feature film, this show is ideal for young performers.
When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are from 6-8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, although they will run later the week the show opens. Rehearsals begin Monday, July 9 and run until the show opens on Aug. 2. Not every child is called to every rehearsal; the time commitment usually depends on the size of the role!
When are performances?
Performances are: Aug. 2, 3, and 4 at 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 5 at 2 p.m.
Where are performances?
Performances will take place in the newly renovated SCT Playhouse at 518- 1st Ave. E.
What if I still have more questions or want to talk to someone about auditioning?
No problem! Feel free to contact SCT Artistic Director Cara Gerlock or Production Director Meghan Vosberg at 262-7336.
