Wernimont Found Guilty



Storm Lake, IA (KICD) -- A Rembrandt man has been found guilty of sexual abuse charges.

36-year old Cory Wernimont was found guilty on 5 counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse this week in Buena Vista County District Court. The crimes were committed against a 15-year old girl in his residence on August 7th, 2012.


Sentencing is set for April 15th in Buena Vista County District Court. Wernimont is facing a 10-year prison sentence on each count, and is also facing 60 more counts of third-degree sexual abuse in a case in which he is accused of sexually abusing another 15-year-old girl numerous times in the past two to three years. A trial in that case is set for May 7th.
