Outreach Coordinator Anita Jorgenson tells KICD News that the need always seems to ramp up a bit during the holidays . An increased need paired with a number of other programs such as the food pantry, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, multi community church assistance fund, hat and gloves program, and the Clay County Food for Life program leads to a bit of an overload this time of year.
In recent years the rising cost of goods hasn't been matched with increasing paychecks for many.
