Okoboji, IA (KICD)--The restoration of Trumbull Lake will be the focus of a meeting being held next week.
The 1,200-acre Trumbull Lake and its 1,000 acres of connected marshes, in Clay County, are nearly dry following this year's historic drought. Bryan Hellyer, wildlife biologist for the DNR, tells KICD News that this is unusual for the shallow lakes system that receives water from a nearly 50,000-acre watershed.
Hellyer says this is actually a blessing.
Hellyer says that if Mother Nature cooperates, citizens will notice a definite increase in water quality and clarity.
A public information meeting on this issue will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd from 6-8 p.m. in the lower level of the Dickinson County Nature Center in Okoboji.
