The city of Storm Lake is looking for someone to fill a council seat for a year. Councilman Steve O'Bannon has tendered his resignation, saying a new job conflicts with the council's meeting schedule.
State law triggers the seat to go on the next general election ballot in November, but the seat needs to be filled in the interim.
The city council this week decided to appoint a councilman instead of incurring the expense of a special election now. Interested people should contact Storm Lake city hall.
